We’re sure you’ve heard, the holidays are here; and that means one thing for us—baked goodies! We’re busting out our favorite appliance, the one and only KitchenAid stand mixer to whip up all of our go-to holiday desserts.

If you don’t already have a KitchenAid mixer of your own, it’s time to invest. And if you do already have one, consider gifting one to spread the cheer! This is one of the most coveted gifts each December. Don’t believe us? Just watch your loved one shed actual tears of joy when they open it. (And don’t forget the attachments.) But get ready to spend some time choosing the right color. The five-quart tilt-head model comes in (ready for this?) 47 different colors.

You might think classic hues like red or chrome are the favorites, but the real answer will surprise you. KitchenAid released a OnePoll survey of 5,000 people (100 from each state) to find out which of their mixer colors is the most popular, and which holiday treat each state is mixing up.

Here’s what your state had to say!

Show Us Your True Colors, America!

The overall most popular KitchenAid mixer color is Blue Velvet! The sophisticated, matte blue finish has everyone swooning, with 18 states voting for it as their favorite.

The most popular dessert was a little more predictable: good ol’ American apple pie. A whopping 21 states chose apple pie as their favorite holiday dessert.

Shades of blue and green continued to trend for the next most popular colors on the list. Coming in second and third were Aqua Sky and Kyoto Glow. Aqua Sky, a calming blueish green, was the preferred shade by 10 states. Eight states voted for the brand’s 2020 color of the year, Kyoto Glow, a vibrant green hue.

If you’re having trouble picking your own favorite color, Maryland and Nebraska can relate. The survey-respondents in Maryland couldn’t choose between Kyoto Glow and Blue Velvet. Nebraska tied between Blue Velvet and Copper Pearl.

What Are the Best Baked Goods?

Apple pie was the clear winner for favorite baked good—but the second place dessert is just as delicious if you ask us. The silver medal goes to pumpkin pie, voted as the favorite by 10 states. Probably the most surprising survey results were the third most popular baked good—baklava. The Middle Eastern phyllo pastry dessert was chosen by nine states including New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas and Utah. It even beat the classic chocolate chip cookie!
